Benefits

If you are looking to add a new Chase credit card to your wallet, then it doesn’t get much better than Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. You will have the chance to earn 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards® bonus points after spending $4,000 within the first 3 months. If you choose to add an authorized user to your account and make purchase in the first 3 months, you will earn an additional 5,000 points. When you use your card dining at restaurants or on travel purchases, you will receive 2x points. Any other purchases that you make will earn 1 point per dollar.

One of the major reasons why this card is so popular each year, is because of its flexibility. Some travel credit cards will limit how you can use the rewards you earn. Sometime you’re only able to use them on a single airline or hotel. With Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you have choices.

You can choose to redeem your points for travel through the Ultimate Rewards® portal and receive a value of 1.25 cents per point. Alternatively, you can choose to transfer your points to one of several loyalty partners including, Southwest Airlines, Hyatt, United Airlines, and more. If you’d prefer to use the points for something other than travel, you can receive cash back or even use them to shop on Amazon.com.

Things to Consider

One of the big negatives with most reward cards that offer large signup bonuses, is that often times they have an annual fee. Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is no different. There is a $95 annual fee, however the card comes with a $0 introductory rate for the first year.

Verdict

Not only is Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card one of the best travel credit cards available, but it’s also the best overall credit card from Chase. Combine the high signup bonus, ability to earn bonus rewards on purchases, and its flexibility, and it’s no wonder why this is such a sought after credit card.

If you are looking to add a cash back card to your wallet, then you can’t get much better than earning 5% back. That’s exactly what you get from Chase Freedom®. Each quarter, Chase will select different categories where you can earn 5% cash back, up to $1,500 per quarter. Any other purchase that you make, will earn 1% back.

You will also receive a $150 sign-up bonus when you sign up for Chase Freedom® and spend $500 in the first 3 months. You will also earn an additional $25 bonus when you add an authorized user and they make a purchase in the same three month period.

Chase Freedom® is also great for anyone looking for an introductory APR offer. For the first 15 months you will receive 0% APR on both purchases and balance transfers. Once the introductory period has ended the APR will change to 15.99% - 24.74% Variable.

Things to Consider

This card comes with no annual fee, which is pretty uncommon for a reward card. One thing that you need to watch out for is each quarter you will need to manually opt into each bonus category. If you don’t opt in, you will only receive the standard 1% cash back.

For several years Chase Freedom® has been a consumer favorite for earning cash back. Even though you are required to be proactive and opt into the bonus categories, the work is worth it for most.

Benefits

If you are struggling with debt, applying for another credit card may not seem like the smartest move to you. In reality, it might be the best thing to help you get out of debt. That’s because a balance transfer card can help you cut the interest, and focus on paying off the balance.

The Chase Slate® is one of the best balance transfer cards currently available. The biggest thing that sets it apart from other cards, is that it doesn’t charge a balance transfer fee. You just need to transfer the balance within the first 60 days of opening your account.

With the Chase Slate® you will receive 0% APR for the first 15 months on both balance transfers and purchases. Once the introductory period is over, the APR will change to 15.99%-24.74% Variable.

Things to Consider

The no annual fee Chase Slate® usually requires an applicant to have good credit. This can be a problem for many people that are currently struggling with debt. Chase also has a couple of requirements on balance transfers. First, you can’t transfer a balance from another Chase credit card. Second, you can’t transfer a balance that is greater than $15,000, or higher than your credit limit.

Verdict

If you are looking to transfer a balance away from a high interest credit card, then Chase Slate® is a great choice. There are other cards that offer a longer 0% introductory period, however none offer a $0 balance transfer fee. Depending on the beginning balance, this could be a big savings.
