To find the top financial advisors in Nevada, we first identified all firms registered with the SEC in the state. Next, we filtered out firms that don't offer financial planning services, those that don't serve primarily individual clients and those that have disclosures on their record. The qualifying firms were then ranked according to the following criteria:

  • AUM
    Firms with more total assets under management are ranked higher.
  • Individual Client Count
    Firms who serve more individual clients (as opposed to institutional clients) are ranked higher.
  • Clients Per Advisor
    Firms with a lower ratio of clients per financial advisor are ranked higher.
  • Age of Firm
    Firms that have been in business longer are ranked higher.
  • Fee Structure
    Firms with a fee-only (as opposed to fee-based) compensation structure are ranked higher.

All information is obtained through public records and is updated annually after the firms’ form ADV filing. As a fee-only practice, ICC representatives do not sell third-party investment products or insurance policies for additional compensention. The firm adopts a strategic approach to investing that includes both long-term purchases, where securities are held for at least one year, and short-term purchases, involving securities sold within a year. One Wealth Map, previously known as H&H Retirement Design and Management, Inc., provides investment management and financial planning services to a client base of individuals and high-net-worth individuals. The firm develops personalized financial plans that cover tax and cash flow planning, retirement and estate planning, insurance reviews and broader wealth oversight. 

Clients can choose among service tiers that range from portfolio management and rebalancing to full financial plan integration using the eMoney platform. The firm requires a minimum of $1 million in assets for investment management services, although exceptions may be made for family members or related accounts. For financial planning, clients pay fixed fees starting at $5,500, depending on complexity.

The firm operates on a fee-based model. Its advisors may earn commissions from insurance transactions, which presents potential conflicts of interest, though clients are not required to use them for implementation. Despite these potential conflicts, the firm and its representatives must act in clients' best interests when acting in an advisory capacity (rather than a sales capacity).

One Wealth Map’s investment philosophy centers on constructing layered portfolios that balance fixed-income holdings with equities. It employs fundamental and technical analysis while managing portfolios in line with clients’ goals, time horizons and risk tolerance. 

The firm invests across a wide range of assets including exchange-listed securities, mutual funds, government and municipal bonds, options strategies and real estate investment trusts, but generally avoids private equity and variable annuities. Portfolios are reviewed at least annually, with adjustments made for changes in tax considerations, cash flows or client objectives.

RB Capital Management

RB Capital Management in Reno provides investment management and financial planning services. The firm builds customized portfolios that take into account a client’s goals, financial situation, tax considerations and risk tolerance. Its services include ongoing portfolio management, hedging strategies, fixed income portfolio design and comprehensive financial planning that incorporates factors such as age, wealth and investment objectives. 

Founded in 2000, the firm works with individuals, high-net-worth individuals, corporations, retirement plans, charties and trusts. It does not impose a strict account minimum, but fees are based on a percentage of assets under management. Financial planning can also be offered separately for an hourly fee.

American Wealth Management

American Wealth Management, founded in 1988, is an SEC-registered investment advisory firm that provides discretionary investment management, financial planning and retirement plan advice. The firm also manages third-party investment programs and offers model strategies to financial advisors. 

Its planning services cover a wide range of needs, including retirement, tax considerations, stock options, insurance analysis, education funding, charitable giving, debt management and cash flow planning. Kingsbridge Wealth Management

Kingsbridge Wealth Management, located in Las Vegas, has been in business since in 2009. The firm provides advisory services to a relatively small client base of high-net-worth individuals, indivdiuals below the high-net-worth mark and charities. 

Its service offerings include discretionary investment management through separately managed accounts, financial planning and consulting. Planning services may address investment, retirement, estate, charitable, education and business needs, with optional concierge services such as bill payment. Clients also have access to the FICA For Advisors cash management program, which places deposits in insured bank and credit union accounts, though this program is not subject to investment management.

The firm typically requires clients to have $5 million in investable assets to establish a managed account, though this minimum may be adjusted at the firm’s discretion. For financial planning services, fixed fees range from $1,000 to $50,000 depending on scope. Advisory fees for portfolio management are charged as a percentage of assets under management. 

Kingsbridge has a small team that includes a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), as well as a certified private wealth advisor (CPWA) and certified investment management analyst (CIMA). However, the firm operates on a fee-based model, meaning its advisors and affiliates can receive additional compensation such as placement fees and referral arrangements, which may create conflicts of interest. 

Kingsbridge’s investment approach emphasizes systematic allocation, global diversification and tax efficiency. Portfolios may include equities, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, options and alternative investments. The firm often uses index-based strategies to gain asset class exposure at lower cost and risk, while tailoring portfolios to client objectives and tolerance for risk.

Aljian Capital Management

Aljian Capital Management (ACM) is a fee-based firm in Carson City that works with individuals, high-net-worth individuals, pension and profit sharing plans, corporations and other business entities. Notably, the firm does not require a minimum account balance to engage its services.

ACM, which was founded in 2013, offers portfolio management services that include ongoing investment management, along with financial planning support to help clients meet their financial goals.

Peterson Wealth Management is a fee-based firm founded in 2004 that registered as an investment advisor in 2017. Peterson provides investment advisory and financial planning services to a client base dominated by individuals and high-net-worth individuals. The firm also offers services to retirement plans and businesses. 

Peterson provides comprehensive portfolio management that combines investment management with financial planning, along with standalone consulting in areas such as retirement, estate, tax, education, insurance, real estate and business planning. There is no stated account minimum, but financial planning services require a two-hour minimum engagement.

Methodology We analyzed data on average expenditures for seniors, cost of living and investment returns to determine how many years of retirement a $1 million nest egg would cover in cities across America.

First, we looked at data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on the average annual expenditures of seniors. We then applied cost of living data from the Council for Community and Economic Research to adjust those national average spending levels based on the costs of each expense category (housing, food, healthcare, utilities, transportation and other) in each city. Using this data, SmartAsset calculated the average cost of living for retirees in the largest U.S. cities.

We assumed the $1 million would grow at a real return (interest minus inflation) of 2%. Then, we divided $1 million by the sum of each of those annual numbers to determine how long $1 million would cover retirement expenses in each of the cities in our study. Cities where $1 million lasted the longest ranked the highest in the study.
